FDM is capable of manufacturing custom fixtures, research aids, tooling or medical device components in high performance thermoplastics. FDM can provide a very high quality finish and a range of appropriate materials properties, from stable UV resistance to high tensile or flexural strength and flame and toxicity resistance. 3D Printing facilitates medical professionals to go beyond previous boundaries by using printed replica but realistic looking and feeling anatomical and biological models, which permits individualised simulated pre-surgical training before the actual surgery, hence reducing surgery time, recovery time and patient risk.
FDM can print customised, one-off instrumentation or laboratory parts for specific projects, with users also benefiting from the usual lead-time and cost reductions of 3D printing.
PC-ISO is a bio-compatible thermoplastic which complies with ISO 10993 USP Class VI and is UL 94V0 certified, can be gamma or EtO sterilised.
Next generation thermoplastic ULTEM 1010 is UL 94V0 certified. Both ABS-M30i and PPSF are medical device bio-compatible materials and can be gamma and EtO sterilized.
